I expected to receive some feedback on the question I posed about capital punishment. My take on the issue is that execution should be swift and sure following an expedited appellate process. People knowing that death is a certainty and surely to be imposed quickly, would be the best deterrent to capital crime. Should there be science developing, think DNA, that would exonerate an individual, then proceedings should have a mechanism to allow for life in prison until innocenceĀ is ruled out scientifically. Ordinarily, the crime committed will have no such inquiry, but to appease those that may object to swift justice, such a provision would be of little consequence on the ground, but for the odd case where there is such an issue with developing science. Certainly, no one wants an innocent person put to death. Gun control, however, does nothing to remedy the issue of capital crime.
